The German language edition of A History of the World in Six Plagues—which is entitled Eingesperrt und ausgegrenzt—is officially out! Ullstein Verlag published this book, and I’m so grateful to everyone who has made this publication possible. If you want to practice your German, you can get a copy for yourself or a friend here! I recently wrote a short essay, “How to Beat Ebola,” for the London Review of Books about the Ebola crisis in Uganda and how the government, public health officials, and scientists were able to slough off the outbreak.
